Is Royal Purple’s full synthetic 5W-30 motor better than Amsoil’s 100% synthetic 5W-30 motor oil? In this video both products go head to head in several tests. Both Amsoil and Royal Purple are very high quality synthetic motor oils. I bought both of these products using my own money. I am not sponsored by Amsoil or Royal Purple, and I do not sell Amsoil or Royal Purple products. The testing methods outlined in this video are my own and not performed using expensive oil lab testing equipment or following the ASTM, SAE or API testing standards. The three tests outlined in the video include tests for viscosity at varying temperatures, film strength, and evaporative testing. In my opinion, the testing approaches used in this video provide consumers with valuable information on choosing the right motor oil for their specific application. Hope you enjoy the rest of the video and thank you very much for supporting the channel by watching the commercials and through Patreon support.

A lot have viewers have requested I provide Amazon affiliate links to help them find the products I test and as a way of supporting the channel through commission. If you purchase a product or service with the links I provide, there is no additional charge to you. Thank you for supporting Project Farm Channel.

It happens all the time and I fail to select the best lineup of brands to test. So, I would greatly appreciate your help. I periodically ask for a vote on which brands to test. The “vote” notification only goes out to those who have both a) subscribed and b) selected the “bell”.

By the way, the testing is having a positive impact. In addition to helping viewers select the best products for their needs, product manufacturers are watching these videos. Several manufacturers have informed me that they are working to make their products even better. Thank you very much for supporting the channel by watching the commercials and through Patreon support. and I’m looking forward to many more product test reviews in the future. Best regards, Todd

30 gedachten over “Is Royal Purple better than Amsoil? Let’s find out!

  1. Thank you all very much for suggesting this video idea. I look forward to your suggestions for other ideas in the future. Best regards, ToddAmsoil: https://amzn.to/3aNZYoV
    Royal Purple: https://amzn.to/31l9ehc

  2. Awesome videos… what about a test with bar and chain oils for cold and warm flows and lubrication test

  3. Like to see Valvoline blue vs rotela vs amsoil for Diesel's please

  4. I have never heard of Amsoil. My ride is needing a oil change and everyone is recommending royal purple. Great video

  5. Thanks Todd for your professional videos. Always spot-on and fair.

  6. Little late but playoffs definitely! In my world (Mitsubishi Evos), some of the brands used that I’d like to see how they stack up are: AMSoil Signature Series, Rotella T6, Redline, Brad Penn, Valvoline VR1, Royal Purple, and how Motul 8100 are some common ones I hear about.

  7. We've got Bill Nye the Oil Guy over here!

  8. Could you test bardahl oils . Thank you

  9. You should do royal purple lucas and redline gear oil

  10. Watching the movement of the heat source in time lapse is kinda freaky, seems like the darn thing is breathing.

  11. You should do a lubricaron test after oil is subjected to hot and cold tests respectively

  12. Great video! Thank you!

  13. Ive used royal purple before and had good results. I was thinking about using it again but now I don't know.

  14. It would be cool if you would test the zinc additives on the market to see which one performs the best. Hyperlube zinc replacement, Lucas zinc additive Torco zinc additive and LAT zinc additive. I build performance VW Aircooled engines and this is a common question that gets debated in our industry because our engines can’t survive without zinc or zinc supplement

  15. All synthetic “trolling” oils aren't hyped equally.

  16. Great video, man! I would just like to clarify things here. Been using Amsoil fully synthetic turbodiesel oil on my car for about 4 years already (very satisfied btw) and I have been following the 10,000 interval from factory. Question is, can I go past the interval for an additional 3k-5k?

  17. I've used Amsoil for a long time in my cars. But I've not seen an ATF fluid comparison on your channel. I've looked but not found? I use Amsoil in my transmissions also and because I've had some pretty dramatic favorable results. But I'm still curios how it compares to others? Maybe you'll get around to that sometime if I'm not missing it already. Thanks for your hard work!

  18. Wow. Never thought I would learn so much in 11 minutes on the subject.

  19. 7:05 why is your griddle breathing????

  20. We Know Royal Purple is great and Costco is as good as the others, how about a shoot-out with Royal purple and the Costco Oil where Costco is half the price as Purple

  21. Please do engine additive test with MOTORKOTE… Thank you

  22. Can you compare Brad Penn oil vs amsoil and purple power.

  23. Would you consider a oil filter test video? Preferably synthetic media or high end cellulose and how long they last with these new 15k plus recommended oil changes interval oils.

  24. Thanks for that testing. I am switching to Amsoil on all my vehicles.

  25. Thicker oil like Royal Purple might be better in high mileage engines. Usually oils get thinner with heat and use. So RP might be better protection.

  26. I really enjoy your videos. They are straight forward and unbiased. I just purchased a '95 Ford F350 Quigley 7.3L truck with only 27,000 miles. This video will help me to decide which oil to run in it to keep it in the best condition possible. Thank you so much for your efforts on this channel.

  27. Well that settles that! Thank you for this awesome video!
